Do you want to learn to speak Spanish fast? Learning a new language requires a lot of hard work and commitment. It is just like learning how to ride a bike or to swim. It is not really important to know everything about the Spanish language if you just want to learn it quickly. Besides, you have a whole lifetime to learn the language thoroughly. The Spanish language is very beautiful, and at the same time, quiet and complex. You cannot possibly squeeze in that amount of information in a small amount of time. You only need to be able to speak Spanish in a conversational approach. In due time, you will be able to speak Spanish fluently.
There are a great number of Spanish courses offered on the Internet that can be done at home. The greatest advantage of these courses is that the lessons can be transferred to a MP3 player or a CD and have them played to you while you are driving or exercising.
A great thing about speaking another language is that whenever you are traveling to a particular country and you speak that country’s language, you will realize that the native people of the country tend to change their attitude towards you. They become more accommodating and much nicer whenever you converse to them in their native tongue. They will see that you are exerting extra effort to speak their language and they will feel honored and proud to talk and to help you. An additional benefit of using home-based courses and immersing in a Spanish speaking community or country is that you will be able to greatly appreciate their culture.
In order to be able to quickly learn Spanish, you need to go to a Spanish-speaking country and experience the language in its rawest form. Try to visit a public market or strike a conversation on the streets. Do not be afraid to make mistakes. You will find out that firsthand experience is the best way to learn to speak Spanish fast.
I am in Spanish IV. and I think that I can probably hold a good conversation with a Spanish speaker but I would like to get better. What cd roms or computer games have you guys used that have really helped you learn spanish better. I heard that Rosetta Stone is really good.
I tried Rosetta Stone for Spanish. It does not have any translation, grammar or conjugation instructions so it will be very hard to go beyond the basics with it. There is no way to be fluent with it. Their program is based on the same thing where you see these 4 pictures over and over again. I was disappointed especially for the price I paid.
My college uses a software called tell me more. It covers not only the basics, but also intermediate or advanced level. It is also a lot less repetitive. My goal was to become fluent so it was perfect for me and I bought their individual version. It has a lot of different activities: picture/word association, videos, dialogues,…, includes also grammar and conjugation. It has also more content than any other language software. Their speech recognition is great so you can have a dialogue with the computer. You can check out their website at http://www.tellmemorestore.com for a free demo and compare too. You can check out independent reviews on the web too Top Ten Reviews or about.com websites. I just noticed they launched a new product.
The best way to learn a language would be through immersion, visiting these countries. Learning a language will require some time. In addition to software, you can have books which are useful as well. Audio CDs like Pimsleur for instance might help you out but you cannot get any feedback on your pronunciation so I did not like it so much
